CONSTRUCTION UPDATE!!!

Tired of living in a never ending construction zone???  WE ARE TOO!!!  Our goal is to use all of our available resources to build the best facilities possible for our students and the community of Jal.  The money we are using is collected from oil and gas taxes with no residential taxes currently being collected.  If we don’t use these resources there are others who would love to!  Here is an update on all of the projects currently going on in the district.

1. Auditorium: The auditorium is 98% complete with only a few items being added.  It is a beautiful facility.  Please come check it out at the Veteran’s Day Program in November.
2. Football Field:  The concession stand, bathrooms, visitor locker room, and officials locker room is 90% complete.  The stands are getting railing, steps, and ADA ramp installed.  Pavers will go in around the football field allowing access to the new concession stand next.  They will start assembling the scoreboard as soon as the brick work is done on the tower.  We will offer free admission to football games to all fans and Lasco Construction will be furnishing seat pads until the seats are installed on the new bleachers.  Please be patient with us on this project,  the outcome will be amazing for our students and fans alike!
3. Elementary addition:  The 8 additional classrooms will be the next focus for the construction crew.  The elevator shaft has been completed, and steel is being hung throughout the structure.  Plumbing and electrical has mostly been completed.
4. Junior High addition: There will be 5 new classrooms, a junior high commons are, greenhouse,  and a training/student testing center added to the south end of the high school. The site work has been completed where the old administration building once stood.  We have been getting a lot of questions on why they dug such a huge hole south of the high school for the project.  The soil tests and core samples showed a sandstone formation deep down past the foundation so they had to dig down past it to solid caliche rock so the building wouldn’t settle later on. 
5. Baseball Field:  a larger concession/bathroom area and a new parking lot will be added to this facility.
6. Maintenance/Bus Barn: The maintenance building on first street will be the next project that has not yet been started.  There will be 4 additional bus bays added and an electrical/plumbing upgrade will be performed on the building.
